  1. Step 1 - Initial Visit & Consultation

Upon contacting me I will arrange an initial visit to view your garden and discuss your tastes, ideas and design requirements with you. I will subsequently send you a written brief and quotation for garden design work.

  2. Step 2 - Site Survey

An accurate survey of the existing garden is needed before any design work can take place. This is undertaken either by me or, in the case of larger landscapes or more complex sites, a land surveyor.

  3. Step 3 - Sketch Plan

This is a scale plan of the garden design layout incorporating everything outlined in the design brief together with artists' impressions and supporting visuals to show you how the final garden will look. It acts as a discussion document allowing me to present my ideas and talk through any changes you may wish to make.

  4. Step 4 - Presentation Plan and Construction Drawings

The Presentation Plan is a complete garden design including specification of materials, levels and indication of planting areas. A landscape contractor will then be able to cost, set out and build the garden from this plan. Construction drawings of specific garden structures or garden water features may be required and will therefore accompany the Presentation Plan.

  5. Step 5 - Planting Plan and Plant Schedule

The Planting Plan specifies the exact location and spacing of all the garden plants, both new and existing, in the design. A corresponding Plant Schedule lists the plant names, sizes and quantities and is used for sourcing, costing, and ordering the plants.

  6. Step 6 - Monitoring Service

To secure your peace of mind and to ensure the full potential of the garden design is achieved I offer an optional garden monitoring service whereby I can liaise with contractors throughout the garden's construction.

  7. Step 7 - Planting and Maintenance

Once the garden has been constructed I am able to source, supply and set out all the plants in your garden and organise the planting. I can also prepare easy to understand maintenance guidelines to help you to care for your newly designed garden.

  8. Step 8 - Follow-up Consultations

I give complimentary, quarterly, follow-up consultations for one whole year after the garden has been completed. This provides the opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have.
